“Silakbo” is Filipino for “an outburst of emotions that demands to be felt.” Ang bugso ng damdamin na nanghihingi ng panahon.
Our Mission as Silakbo PH: We are a Philippine-based advocacy group composed of students and young professionals. We aim to uplift stories in the context of mental health awareness. As art allows for catharsis and self-expression, we do this primarily through creative means: be it a poem, a painting or a playlist, any medium that best expresses your story is welcome.
We hope that telling stories through this way will destigmatize and shed light upon the importance of mental health, not just for those with formal diagnoses, but for everyone.
______
Main Projects
We aim to:
We do these mainly through our art and mental health publication, podcast, events, collaborations and talks. We try our best to update a running database of mental health resources.
We disseminate information about current projects mainly through our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We also hope to connect with our online community through our official Facebook group.
______
Events
Since we believe that mental health is everybody’s business, not just those who are diagnosed, we gear our events, projects, and seminars to the general public. We especially appreciate events in which we can enrich mental health knowledge to the youth.
